Apex bat removal tip of the month: Is it legal for me to trap a bat? - Dealing with bats is a tricky situation when it comes to legality, but in short, it is legal to trap and bat. That being said, it is NOT legal to kill bats and it is not legal for the average homeowner to relocate them. (It should also be noted that relocation done this way won't work because the bats will fly right back to their old roost). Since you can't kill bats and you can't relocate them, you might as well do what the most recommended removal method is and exclude them. Ultimately, excluding bats may even be less expensive than any attempt at trapping them. The process involves letting the bats exclude themselves as they fly out of special netting or one-way funnels.
